Attending a contemporary dance show in Nantes

You need not be an expert to be moved. A few bearings for coming to see contemporary dance and getting the most from it.

Dancers of Compagnie Mozaïk Ballet' on stage, in Nantes

Attending a contemporary dance show means seeing pieces created from scratch on stage, where movement carries an emotion or an idea. No initiation is required: simply let yourself be carried by what the body tells, without trying to decode everything.

Why see contemporary dance

It is a direct art. No text, no screen, living bodies in the same space as you. What plays out passes through movement, light, music, and is often felt before it is understood.

You rarely leave indifferent. A piece can intrigue, move or unsettle. If it does something to you, it has done its work.

What to expect

Contemporary dance is not always a story you follow from start to finish. It is better watched the way you listen to a piece of music: letting it pass through you, without hunting for a hidden meaning.

There is no single correct reading. What you feel in front of a piece is already a right way to receive it.

The company and school performance

Each year, Compagnie Mozaïk Ballet' and the school L'Atelier du Mouvement present a show in Nantes, where dancers in training and dancers of the company meet on stage.

It is the chance to see a season of work come to fruition, and to discover original creations rather than a familiar repertoire.

Coming to the show

Dates, venue and tickets are announced each season. Coming out of curiosity is enough: no prior knowledge is required to have a good time.
