The dancer's profession: path, demands, reality
Behind the lightness of a show lies a hard profession and a daily discipline. What to know before dreaming of it.

Being a professional dancer means making dance your work: training every day, rehearsing, creating and performing shows. It is a physically demanding profession that requires years of training and daily discipline.
A body kept up every day
The dancer works their body the way a musician works their instrument. Class, warm-up, rehearsals: the right gesture is maintained, it does not keep itself.
A day without dancing is felt. A week shows.
Years before the stage
You do not become a dancer in a year. Training often begins early and stretches over years. You have to learn placement, musicality, the body's memory.
And above all, accept repeating the same movement endlessly, until it lands right.
The reality, without the postcard
The profession is beautiful. It is also hard. Places are rare, careers short, injuries part of the landscape.
No one goes into dance for the money. You go in because you cannot picture yourself doing anything else. It is that desire that stays standing over time.
Train, then move to the stage
At Mozaïk Ballet', training and creation move together, under Alexandra Gérard, a State-certified teacher. Dancers go from the studio to the stage without a break.
Entry into the company is by audition. It is the door between learning and the profession.
